Get Fighting Fit with the Israeli Self Defense System!
Krav Maga as it is known in Israel... FIST is how we call it in Mastery Martial Arts.
FIST is the official self-defense and fighting system used by the Israeli Military and Police. It is taught worldwide by many military and law enforcement agencies.
Unlike MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), FIST is about street survival, NOT Sport Fighting!!
FIST is a system comprised of two main parts -- Self-Defense and Hand-to-Hand Combat. It emphasises easy to learn techniques that have been battle tested in real, life-threatening confrontations. Self-Defense is the systems foundation. Students learn to defend themselves against hostile actions, to avoid injury and to quickly overcome their assailant. FIST defenses address a wide variety of aggressive acts -- including punches, kicks, chokes, bearhugs, headlocks and grabs -- utilizing strategies to deal with multiple assailants and assailants armed with a firearm, edge weapon or blunt object. Students apply the relevant FIST principles and techniques in a multitude of situations, even in unfamiliar or adverse circumstances such as dark surroundings, from sitting or lying positions, with limited freedom of movement or under extreme stress and/or fatigue.
Hand to Hand Combat constitutes a more advanced and sophisticated phase in FIST, which teaches how to neutralize an opponent quickly and effectively. It embodies elements related to the actual performance of the fight including tactics, bluffs, powerful combinations of different attacks, the psychological dimensions and learning how to take advantage of the environment. In addition, FIST incorporates specialized training methods that not only challenge students physically, but also instill in them a special mental discipline meant to strengthen the spirit and to develop the ability to deal with violent confrontations under high stress.
These training methods have been used in Israel's most elite units and proven themselves in real fighting situations.
Though there are some similarities between FIST and other martial arts, The FIST system was developed in an environment where the Israeli military could not devote long hours to prolonged hand-to-hand combat training for their personnel. Great importance was given to train students to a high skill level in a relatively short period of time. It is a modern method characterized by a coherent and logical way of thinking that builds up easy, natural and practical techniques featuring simple movements of the human body.
The lethal nature of this system simulates real life situations, teaching people how to save lives and cope with common street violence. But, to be effective in the streets, FIST has NO rules, limitations or forms. Anything goes when you are fighting for your life! Therefore, there are no sport competitions for FIST, because it is designed to remain realistic, modern, highly refined street fighting system -- a defensive survival approach to personal safety to be used against both armed and unarmed attackers in muggings, street attacks and sexual assaults.
